The People Are Tired
I’m tired.
Tired of pretending that red or blue
means truth or progress —
when both parties wear different colors
but sell the same lie.
Tired of Democrats caving
like paper walls in a hurricane,
and Republicans preaching “freedom”
while choking the air from our lungs.
Chuck Schumer,
you’ve lost your spine somewhere in the Senate halls.
Hakeem Jeffries,
your speeches sound polished,
but your purpose feels hollow.
Leaders?
No — performers.
Puppets dancing for applause from corporations and donors.
While we —
the people —
watch rent rise higher than hope,
watch groceries cost more than grace,
and watch the same suits
talk about budgets
while we talk about survival.
I’m tired of AIPAC writing checks
that cash our silence.
Tired of a Congress that acts like empathy
is too expensive to afford.
Tired of this game called democracy
that forgot the people were supposed to be players,
not pawns.
It’s not “Make America Great Again.”
It’s “Make Israel Great Again.”
It’s “Make Corporations Rich Again.”
It’s “Make Us Forget Again.”
But we haven’t forgotten.
We’re awake now.
And awakening is a dangerous thing
for those who profit off our sleep.
I’m not red.
I’m not blue.
I am the pulse between the two —
the color of humanity,
the shade of truth,
the sound of a people who are done.
We don’t need their approval —
we need their accountability.
We don’t need their pity —
we need their power to serve purpose, not profit.
We are tired —
but we are rising.
And when the people rise,
no politician, no party, no puppet
can stand in the way of truth.
